I am an educator, researcher, journalist, and communication consultant.
My name is Mirjana Pantic. Friends, family, and colleagues call me Mira.
I am an award-winning journalist and Associate Professor at Pace University, New York, where I teach journalism and communications courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition to teaching, I actively conduct research in digital journalism, social media, intercultural and workplace communication.
My greatest passions are learning, writing, and traveling. Pursuing them from an early age helped me achieve my highest goals. I started a professional path as a journalist in Serbia where I worked my way up to the position of editor-in-chief. After 12 years in the media industry, I moved to the United States where I obtained a Ph.D. in Communication and Information.
Embracing lifelong learning resulted in my active participation in many seminars and conferences related to journalism, international communication, the EU integration process, and human rights. They took place in Washington D.C., San Juan, Brussels, Berlin, London, Budapest, Bratislava, Belgrade, and other cities across the globe.
Students describe me as knowledgeable, experienced, respectful, accessible, and clear with instructions and expectations. Friends and colleagues say I have a sunny disposition and the ability to inspire others 🙂 Sharing and gaining knowledge is what I am passionate about, which is why I enjoy both research and teaching.
In my spare time, you can see me running in Central Park or through the streets of New York City. I have three marathons under my belt, and I am ready for many more!
